Item Open Access Evaluation of Army Corps artillery ammunition supply system via simulation(2000) Utku, Durdu HakanSince the use of enhanced technology by the opposing forces, Turkish Armed Forces must adopt new tactics, employ appropriately upgraded delivery equipment to deliver rations, fuel, ammunition, personnel, repair parts to forces in forward areas to be able to react in time. Within the budget limits, the opportunity to explore new tactics and to test and evaluate new logistics material delivery equipment is correspondingly difficult and sometimes impossible. However, by the use of simulation, which is inexpensive, new supply distribution techniques employing different equipment combinations both currently existing and experimental can be tested. In this study, we evaluate the performance of the existing and new systems of army corps artillery ammunition supply systems. The objective is to see whether the systems operate properly and to select the system design.Item Open Access Evaluation of mobilization and deployment plan of a Turkish armored battalion via simulation(2001) Müslüm, SelimAs being ready for war as soon as possible and with minimum casualties during the crises is the first mission for the troops, the Mobilization and Deployment Plan arises as one of the most important topic for Army. Because this plan includes all the activities that troops have to execute for responding against enemy immediately. In this study, the performance of existing Mobilization and Deployment Plan of a Turkish Armored Battalion is evaulated via simulation. The Mobilization and Deployment simulation model allows military operation planners to build models of Mobilization and Deployment operation of troops early in decision process; perform bottleneck analysis and take necessary measures against the problem areas; and perform risk management of the operations before conducting the real ones. In this thesis, our objectives are to evaulate the Mobilization and Deployment system of an Armored Battalion, find out the significant factors of enemy threat on the existing system, detect the most hazardous border and the most hazardous factor for each border, and discover the system limits. The output of the model is analysed by experimental design, and ranking and selection procedures. The code of simulation model is written in ARENA simulation program.Item Open Access Simulation of casualty evacuation of brigade in defence operation(2000) Nuhut, Özgür‘The medical history of war casts light not only upon the suffering of those who fight but upon the dedication of those who save. Though the association between slaying and saving is paradoxical, it exists and helps to shape the nature of modern warfare—and of modern medicine as well.” — The Medics’ War, Albert E. Cowdrey, Washington, D.C., 24 March 1986 We analyze a simulation model which is not currently available in Turkish Land Forces, and which has not been examined in field-exercises. By making such a simulation we give some useful and important statistical information about casualties such as time in first aid stations and hospitals, waiting times in doctors’ queues, utilization of doctors, number of patients according to their sickness categories, percentages of casualties that return to duty, died or send to higher level medical centers to the commanders of units, to the logistical commanders and to the medical commanders to help them in deciding on true alternatives or solutions. The result of thesis indicates that there are significant bottlenecks in brigade separate station and in 30-bed hospital, especially in queues of sections’ wards. In addition, we observed that if the number of casualties entering the system increases by 3 times, there will be bottlenecks in the queues of battalions' doctors and in the queues of 30-bed hospital normal surgery section's operator.
