Item Open Access A cross sectional analysis of human resource management efforts in Turkey in production sector(1996) Işıkdemir, ÇiğdemIn the 1990s, globalization, internationalization and competition has gained an increasing significance in terms of corporate strategy. The organizational enviroment is involved in a rapid, constant change. Human resource management (HRM), is the critical tool for adapting to this ever changing environment. It could become a perfect strategic point of view when it is utilized efficiently. At the macro level this study analyses the extent of HRM efforts in Turkey in the production sector by replicating the 1992 Price Waterhouse international survey of HRM practices and strategies in Europe. At the micro level significant differences among the large and medium-small scale organizations in their attempts to manage human resources in their organizations in 1996 are investigated. The study seeks to ascertain any changes in HRM practices in Turkey during the four years since Price Waterhouse Survey in 1992, and attempts to evaluate any significant changes within four years ( 1992-1996). Finally, the results of this survey of HR practices in Turkey are compared with the European-wide results of Price Waterhouse survey.
