Audience reception of teen TV dramas : experience of romance and pleasure
    (2016-08) Güneş, Hava Sare
Teen TV dramas are one of the mediums that provide people with conventional, socially constructed ideals about love which are culturally related to and presented with gender and morality. This thesis mainly discusses how teenager girls who are the target audience of the shows, interpret the concepts of love, gender and morality as illustrated in teenage tv dramas. It also asks how they experience the romance that is constructed by the moralities conveyed through TV series. The general structure of the study is composed of the relationship between the love discourse, which is developed by both teen TV dramas and cultural environment, and the teenage girls who are the viewers of these dramas in the patriarchal society.

On streaming-media platforms, their audiences, and public life
(Routledge, 2021-05-10) Özgün, A.; Treske, Andreas
Over the past decade, streaming-media platforms have emerged as new and natively digital forms of content delivery. For the audience, streaming-media platforms appear as the new way of watching TV or a new kind of film distribution at the outset. Yet they radically transform the spatial and temporal settings of audience activity, introducing an algorithmically modulated logic of programming that we provisionally call microcasting and changing the way we relate to entertainment content in general. This essay critically evaluates how streaming-media platforms restructure the temporal, spatial, and relational dynamics of audience activity and strip off its collective essence. It discusses this new technological form’s actual and potential effects on public life by referring to certain foundational concepts from television, audience, and film studies.

Yeşilçam in letters : a "cinema event" in 1960s Turkey from the perspective of an audience discourse
    (2002) Mutlu, Dilek Kaya
This study examines “Ye§il9am event” in Turkish cinema from the perspective of an audience discourse that is reconstituted from the audience letters published in popular cinema magazines Sinema and Perde. Through a study of the letters, it is observed that neither Ye§il9am cinema that marks the 1960s can be reduced to a film industry nor the social experience of it could be evaluated in terms of a cinema-audience relation consisting merely of movie going and film viewing. The topics and the forms of expressions in the letters suggest that Ye§il9am was a “cinema event” diffused throughout everyday life especially through social images of stars and that the audiences had an important role in its (re)production and circulation outside movie theatre.
