dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye’de erkek sporu olarak görülen futbol ilk olarak 4 Temmuz 1954 tarihinde ilk kadınlar arası maçın oynanmasıyla, kadınların da boy gösterdiği bir spor haline gelmeye başlamıştır. Daha sonra, 19 Nisan 1973 tarihinde resmi olarak Türkiye’nin kadınlardan oluşan ilk futbol takımı ‘’İstanbulspor Kadın Futbol Takımı’’ adıyla kurulmuştur. Türkiye’nin birçok ilinde maçlar yapan kadın takımı, karşılaştıkları engellere rağmen Türkiye’de çok ses getirmiş ve çevreden olumlu tepkiler almıştır. Daha sonra takımdan bazı oyuncular ayrılarak ‘’Dostlukspor Kız Futbol Kulübü Derneği’’ni kurmuşlardır. Takımın sonradan Türk futbolu ve özellikle kadın futbol takımları üzerinde olumlu etkileri olmuştur.en_US
dc.description.abstractFootball, which have been considered as ‘’men’s sport’’, have started to be a game that women play as well since the first football match between women was played in 4 July 1954. Later, the first football team named ‘’İstanbulspor Kadın Futbol Takımı’’ consisted of women was established in 19 April 1973. The team that had matches in most of the cities of Turkey, has created a tremendous impression and got positive reactions despite the obstacles they faced. Later on, some of the players have left the team and established another team named ‘’Dostlukspor Kız Futbol Kulübü Derneği’’ separately. The team had positive influence on Turkish football and especially on football teams of women.en_US
