dc.description.abstractBatı “Doğu” diye tahayyül edilen hayali coğrafyayı, kadın üzerinden tanımlarken, Doğu da “Batı” imgeleminde beden politikalarından yararlanıp bunu edebî üretimlerle beraber söylemsel boyuta taşır. Bu çalışma ile Şarkiyatçı ve Garbiyatçı iki ayrı söylemle konuşan; Pierre Loti’nin Aziyâde romanı ile Halid Ziya’nın Bir Şi’ri Hayâl adlı kitabında yer alan “Şadan’ın Gevezelikleri” adlı hikâyesi merkeze alınarak, politik söylemlerin metinselleştirilmesi bağlamında “Doğu” ve “Batı” diye tahayyül edilen hayali coğrafyaların “öteki”sini yaratırken “öteki”nin cinsellik ve cinsiyeti üzerinden kendi kimliğini nasıl inşa ettiği tartışılacaktır. Bu minvalde, bu çalışmada başta Edward Said’in Şarkiyatçılık üzerine geliştirdiği teoriler olmak üzere Jale Parla, Meltem Ahıska, Bernard Lewis, Mohamad Tavakoli-Targhi gibi araştırmacıların başkalıkçı söylemlere dair ürettikleri teorilerden yararlanılacaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractWhile it is held that the West ascribed the distinguishing characteristics of the East through its body politics, it can be argued that the East’s own imaginings of the West also flourished through the promulgation of literary signifiers. This study focuses on two texts – namely Pierre Loti’s novel, Aziyâde, and Halid Ziya’s Bir ûi’ri Hayal – as these works exemplify both Orientalist and Occidentalist discourses. These texts are put forth to contextualize the imaginary geographies of “East” and “West” as the “textualization” of political discourses. In this study, such discourses will be discussed through body politics and how the “other” defines its identity through sexuality and gender. With this in mind, the overview sets out to utilize theories produced by researchers such as Jale Parla, Meltem Ahiska, Bernard Lewis, and Mohamad Tavakoli-Targhi, in addition to theories developed by Edward Said on the subject.
