dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract“Çağdaş İlahiyatçı” lakabıyla akıllarda yer edinen Bahriye Üçok, kariyerinin başından beri Atatürk ilke ve inkılaplarıyla kendi düşüncelerini birleştirerek aydınlık Cumhuriyet’in simgelerinden biri oldu. Yaşadığı dönemin siyasi karışıklıklarına bizzat şahit olması ve sahip olduğu tarihi, siyasi ve dini otorite, Bahriye Üçok’u fikirleri ve çalışmalarıyla toplum içinde en çok ihtilaf oluşturan insanlardan biri haline getirdi. Günümüzde fikirleri yeteri kadar bilinmemekte olup daha çok suikast haberleri ile ön plana çıkmaktadır; ancak tarihte önemli bir rolünün olmasının sebebi fikirleri ve çalışmalarıdır.en_US
dc.description.abstractBahriye Üçok, who has remained in the minds as Contemporary Theologian became a symbol for our bright Republic by combining her ideas with Atatürk’s principles and reforms since the beginning of her career. By being witness to political issues in her term, her acquired historical, political, and religious knowledge led her to become one the most controversial people which comes from her ideas and works. Today, her ideas are not known enough, and she has been at the forefront with his assassination news, however, the reason why she has such an important status in history is her ideas and works.en_US
