dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBeypazarı, gün geçtikçe yenilenen birçok ilçeye göre tarihi dokusunu hiç kaybetmeyen nadir yerlerdendir. Beypazarı'nda normal evlerin yanı sıra birçok konak da bulunmaktadır. Hatta Beypazarı, içinde bulunan bu konaklarla ünlüdür. Eskiden bu konaklarda zengin ve tanınmış aileler yaşardı. Zaman geçtikçe konakta yaşayan aileler Ankara’ya ya da başka şehirlere taşınınca bu konakların çoğu boş kaldı. Boş kalan bu konaklar bakım görmediği için yıpranmaya başladı. Konakta yaşayan bazı aileler kullanmadıkları bu konakları bağışlamaya karar verdiler. Karaoğuz ailesi de kendi konaklarını Kültür Bakanlığı’na bağışlayan ilk ailedir. Daha sonra bu konak müze haline getirildi. Karaoğuz ailesinin konaklarını bağışlaması birçok aileyi konaklarını bağışlama konusunda teşvik etmiştir. Bu çalışmada Karaoğuz ailesinin Beypazarı'ndaki yaşamları, Karaoğuz konağı hakkında bilgiler, Karaoğuz ailesi ile Beypazarı halkı arasındaki ilişkiler ve Karaoğuz konağının müzeleştirilme süreci anlatılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractBeypazarı is one of the rare places that has never lost its historical texture according to many districts renewed day by day. Beypazarı has many mansions as well as normal houses. In fact, Beypazarı is famous for these mansions. In the past, rich and well-known families lived in these mansions. As the time passed, families living in the mansion moved to Ankara or other cities and many of these mansions remained empty. Most of the empty mansions were damaged due to lack of care. Some families who are living in the mansion decided to donate their mansions. The Karaoğuz family is the first family to donate their mansion to the Ministry of Culture. Later this mansion was turned into a museum. The donations of the Karaoğuz family have encouraged many families to donate their mansions. In this study, the lives of Karaoguz family in Beypazari, information about Karaoguz Mansion, relations between Karaoguz family and Beypazari people and transformation of Karaoğuz mansions into a museum were explained.en_US
