dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractSuat Atalık, 1964 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. Öğrenim hayatını sırasıyla Galatasaray Lisesi ve Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Psikoloji Bölümü’nde tamamladı. Sportif bir ailede büyüyen Atalık da bir spor olan satrancı seçti. Türkiye’de yetişmiş ilk Büyük Usta (Grandmaster) olan Atalık, aynı zamanda satranç Uluslararası Ustası (IM) olan Ekaterina Atalık ile evlidir. Hayatının büyük bölümünü satranca adadı ve bir dönem koçluk yaptı. Günümüzde, özellikle satranç camiasında, tartışmalı bir figür olan Suat Atalık hayatına İstanbul’da devam etmektedir ve Sırbistan milli takımı satranç oyuncusudur.en_US
dc.description.abstractSuat Atalık was born in Istanbul in 1964. He completed his education at Galatasaray High School and Boğaziçi University, Department of Psychology, respectively. Growing up in a sporty family, Atalık also chose chess, which is a sport itself. Atalık, the first Grand Master in Turkey, is married to Ekaterina Atalık, who is an International Master (IM) and a Woman Grand Master (WGM) . He devoted most of his life to chess and coached for a period. Today, a controversial figure especially in the chess community, Suat Atalık continues his life in Istanbul and also plays for Serbian National Chess Team.en_US
