dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractSivas, Türk sanatının önemli parçalarından biri olan âşık edebiyatına değerli katkılarda bulunmuştur. Şentürk İyidoğan, Sivas’lı âşıklardan biridir. Kendisi Mahzuni Şerif’in de yardımlarıyla şiir tekniğini geliştirmiştir. Çoğu Sivaslı gibi Âşık Veysel’i bir ilham kaynağı olarak görmüş, buna ek olarak Pir Sultan Abdal’dan da oldukça etkilenmiştir. Şentürk İyidoğan kariyerinin ilerleyen yıllarında saz imalathanesini açmış, burada kişinin sesine özel sazlar yapmıştır. Bunlara ek olarak önemli âşıkların sazlarının bulunduğu “Ozanlar Müzesi” adında bir müze açmıştır. Bu çalışmada Şentürk İyidoğan’ın hayat hikayesi ve Türk âşıklık geleneğine yaptığı katkılar incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractSivas has made valuable contributions to ashik literature, which is one of the important parts of Turkish art. Şentürk İyidogan is one of the ashiks from Sivas. He developed his poetry technique with the help of Mahzuni Şerif. Like most people from Sivas, he sees Ashik Veysel as a source of inspiration, and states that he is also highly influenced by Pir Sultan Abdal. Şentürk İyidogan opened a baglama workshop in the later years of his career, where he made special instruments for the voice of the person. In addition to these, he opened a museum called "Ozanlar Museum" where the instruments of other ashiks are kept. This study examined Şentürk Iyidogan’s life story and his contributions to the Turkish ashik tradition.en_US
