dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractCumhuriyetin ilanından sonra Türkiye’nin her bölgesinde ülkeyi kalkındırmaya yönelik hareketlere başlanmıştır. Bu kalkındırma projeleri doğrultusunda 1940 yılında eğitim alanında Türkiye'yi aydınlığa taşıyan “Köy Enstitüleri” kurulmaya başlanmıştır. 14 yıl boyunca topluma birçok öğretmen ve sağlıkçı kazandıran köy enstitüleri aynı zamanda bulunduğu köylere de birçok yenilik getirmiş ve köy halkının daha da bilinçlenmesini sağlamıştır. Bu yazımızda çocukluğunu ve ilkokul hayatını Söğüt Köyü’nde geçirdikten sonra Aksu Köy Enstitüsü’nde eğitim hayatına devam eden ve buradan mezun olan Zeliha Korkmaz’ın hayatı ele alınmaktadır. Köy enstitüsünde okumuş ve orada verilen eğitime ve köylerindeki kalkınmaya bire bir şahit olmuş Zeliha Korkmaz ile röportaj yapılarak köy enstitüsü yılları ve mezun olduktan sonraki hayatı anlatılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractAfter the proclamation of the Republic in every region of Turkey it has been started to move towards improvement. In line with these development projects, In 1940, Village Institutes taking the Turkey significantly forward in the field of education started to be established. Village institutes, which have provided many teachers and health professionals to the society for 14 years, also brought many innovations to the villages where they are located and made the village people more conscious. In this article, the life of Zeliha Korkmaz, who continued her education life in Aksu Village Institute after spending her childhood and primary school life in Söğüt Village, and graduated from here, is discussed. Zeliha Korkmaz, who studied at the village institute and witnessed the education given there and the development in their villages, was interviewed and the village institute years and her life after graduation were explained.en_US
