İstanbul’un Kadıköy ilçesinde, Osmanlı Döneminde kurulan eski bir ana tren istasyonu olan Haydarpaşa Garı’nın kuruluş süreci anlatılmıştır. İlerleyen dönemlerde Gar’ın kuruluşunun ardından Gar’ın bugünkü görünüme kavuşmasındaki süreç incelenmiştir. Hem Anadolu hem de Avrupa’ya açılan Haydarpaşa Tren Garı, mimarisiyle de uzun dönemler ilgi çekmiştir. Ayrıca Alman mimarisinin etkisindeki bu yeni bina o dönem Osmanlısı için şehre farklı bir mimari bakış açısı kazandırmıştır. Gar hem mimarisiyle ilgi çekip kültürel anlamda katkı sağlarken aynı zamanda şehre ekonomik olarak da katkıda bulunmuştur. Öte yandan Gar sadece mimarisiyle değil kurulduğu günden bu yana başına gelen olaylarla, gerek doğal afetler gerek ise kapatılma süreçleri ile sık sık gündeme gelmiştir. Garın başına gelen, yangın gibi tahribata neden olan doğal afetlerden sonra çeşitli restorasyon çalışmaları söz konusu olmuş ve dönem dönem farklı restorasyon çalışmaları yürütülmüştür.

The establishment process of Haydarpaşa Train Station, an old main train station established in the Ottoman Period in Kadıköy district on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, has been described. After the natural disasters that happened to the station and caused damage such as fire, various restoration works were carried out and different restoration works were carried out from time to time.
