The Ahi Brotherhood is the guild which had socially, economically, morally and religiously shaped the society during the Seljuq Turks era starting from the 13th century, prevailing over 500 years. This organization which continued the guild tradition under the title "lonca" in Ottoman, is known as Akths-order. “Esnaf Sahresi” tradition also helped preserve the culture of the Akths to the present date. “Esnaf Sahresi” is still prevalent in Gaziantep, as a symbol of labour, faith and sharing. "Esnaf Sahresi” tradition is celebrated with great enthusiasm in spring in Gaziantep, with the artisans having announced it an official holiday for their shops and gathering for a picnic. Unity and solidarity in past days continues to be re-animated without distinction of the master and the apprentice or the rich and the poor.
