dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractTürkiye, 1960’larda daha içe dönük, yeni bir ekonomik kalkınma modeline dönmek için ilk adımlarını atmaya başladı. Yerli malların tüketimine teşvik, dışarıya döviz akışını azaltmak ve ülkedeki döviz krizini çözmek gibi sebepler doğrultusunda çeşitli alanlarda iyileştirmeler yapılmaya başlandı. Bu durumdan etkilenen bir alan da alkol piyasası oldu. İlk ve son Türk Viskisi olan “Ankara Viskisi” nin de macerası böyle başlamış oldu. Fakat ithal viskilerden pek de bir farkı olmayan Ankara Viskisi’nin yeterli ilgi ve talep görememesi viskinin zamanla üretiminin azaltımasına ve en sonunda da piyasadan kaldırılmasına sebep olmuştur. Bugün Ankara Viskisi, viski severlerin koleksiyonları için nadide bir parça. Bu çalışmada Ankara Viskisi’nin ortaya çıkışından yok oluşuna kadar olan sürecin detaylı bir incelemesi yapılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractIn 1960s, Turkey attempted to adopt new and more closed economic development model. In accordance with some reasons such as to promote production of local goods, hinder inflow of foreign currency to abroad and to solve problems related to currency crisis in the country, reforms are made in diverse areas. Alcohol market is one of the areas affected from this situation. The adventure of “Ankara Viskisi”, which is the first and last Turkish whiskey, started in this way. However, “Ankara Viskisi” was not so different from other imported whiskies so it did not got much attention and, in the end, pulled from the market. Today “Ankara Viskisi” is valuable for collections of whiskey lovers. In this research, the process of “Ankara Viskisi”, from the beginning until the end, is examined in detail.
