Oyuncak toplumun gelişim ve değişiminden etkilenir ve bu değişimden izler taşır. Bu araştırmada oyuncağın tarihsel gelişimi, işlevi ve önemi anlatılmıştır. Kültür oyuncağın şekillenmesinde her zaman etkili olmuştur. Kültürel farklılıkları dünyanın farklı yerlerindeki farklı temalara sahip oyuncak müzelerine bakarak görmek mümkündür. Bu araştırmanın asıl amacı oyuncağın siyasi, sosyal ve ekonomik olaylardan nasıl etkilendiğini göstermek ve Türkiye’de oyuncağın bir manipülasyon aracına dönüşüp dönüşmediğini ortaya çıkartmaktır. Siyasi etkiler araştırılırken Birinci ve İkinci Dünya Savaşları, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin ilanı, 1960 ve 1980 darbe dönemleri ve bunların oyuncakla ilişkileri ele alınmıştır. Anadolu insanına ait çıkarımlar ve malzemeye erişimdeki zorluk sosyal etkiler altında araştırılmıştır. Varlık Vergisi, Missouri Zırhlısı’nın İstanbul’a gelişi, Milli Koruma Kanunu ve 1974 Petrol Krizi ise oyuncak üretimini etkileyen ekonomik faktörlerdir. Bulgular doğrultusunda, oyuncağın Türkiye tarihinde manipülasyon amacıyla kullanılmadığına, gündemin bir yansıması olduğuna kanaat getirilmiştir.

Toys are affected by the change and the development of society and contain overtones of them. In this research, the historical development, function and importance of toys are discussed. Culture has been always important in toys’ forms and shapes. It is possible to see cultural differences by looking toy museums, which have different themes, in different countries. The main purpose of this study is to show how toys are being affected through social, political, economic events and finding out whether toys were being used for manipulation in Turkey. When the political effects are being investigated, World War I, World War II, the proclamation of Turkish Republic, 1960 and 1980 Coups in Turkey and their relationship with toys are observed. Implications about Anatolian people and the difficulties in accessing materials are investigated under social effects. Asset Tax, the İstanbul visit of Missouri, Nationa Security Law and 1974 Oil Crisis are the economic factors that affect the production of toys. As a result, in Turkey, toys were not used as manipulation tools. Instead, they were reflections of timely trends.
