Bu ödevde, Türkiye’nin NATO’ya alınması gibi birçok tarihi sonucu olmuş Kore Savaşı, ülkelerin ve siyasilerin anlatımından çıkıp, yaşayan bir tarih olan Kore gazisi Mehmet Bakış’ın gözünden anlatıldı. Bu makale, Kore Savaşı’nın tarih kitaplarında anlatıla tarafının yanı sıra, bir kişiye hissettirdikleri ve yaşattığı derinden sarsan olaylara daha geniş bir çerçeveden bakabilmek umuduyla kaleme alındı. Kore Savaşı öncesi Türkiye ve Türkiye’nin bu savaşa girme süreci, girme nedenleri araştırıldı ve Mehmet Bakış ile röportaj yapıldı. Röportaj sonrasında edinilen bilgilerin ışığında Mehmet Bakış’ın savaş öncesi ve sonrası hayatı anlatıldı. Savaş sırasında yaşadıkları, unutamadığı anılarından bahsedildi. Savaş kavramı, bir askerin gözünden kendi kayıpları ve acılarıyla birlikte değerlendirildi.

In this report, Korean War which has several significant historical outcomes for Turkey such as the invitation of Turkey to NATO, and other countries is told from the perspective of Mehmet Bakış who is a Korean war veteran and a living history. This article was written in the hope of looking in a different aspect to the events that is told in the history books by considering how the experiencer of that event felt afterwards, as well as not considering what people originally assume about Korean War. Turkey’s status before the Korean War, Turkey's motivates of entering this war and process of entering the war had investigated and a interview relating these matters with Mehmet Bakış has done. In the light of the information obtained after the interview, Mehmet Bakış's life before and after the war was told and most importantly, the happenings that he experienced and cannot forget were written down. The concept of war was evaluated with the losts and suffering of a soldier.
