The article firstly analyses the function and definition of incest prohibition and exogamy, then creation of marriage principles with bride capture. It is emphasized that continuity of exogamy was provided with the incest prohibition. Five Turkish folk stories were analyzed within the scope of incest prohibition, exogamy and bride capture. Additionally, "love at first sight" motif in Turkish folk stories was called attention. As a result of this analysis, affect of society and Islamic religion in determining the context of incest prohibition was dwelt on, and existence of incest prohibition and exogamy was ascertained within the fundamentals of marriage principles.
