Evliya Çelebi who had received education madrasah in İstanbul in 17th century, has a close relationship with Islam culture. This strong connection between Islam culture and himself was affected from different sources such as his teachers in his madrasah education life, members of religious orders he had met and conservations that he had with them, reading texts that belong to Islam culture, memorizing Quran itself and being a muezzin. As a matter of this fact, he used his interaction with this culture while writing Seyahatnâme. It can easily be seen that these religious references in Seyahatname have a major impact considering the facts that he made some of his travels depend on verses in Quran. In this manner one can see many references to Quran verses in different sections in Seyahatnâme. Sources of this references was investigated so far, but they have never been invesigated in terms of literariness. In this study, using a text centered apprach, it is denoted that verses that are used in Seyahatname have two main functions. One of the main function of these verses is being informatic while the other function is in terms of creating a fiction. Moreover, classification verses used in Seyahatnâme, functions of these verses in terms of literary, direct or indirect effects of verses to the text are analyzed, too.
