Kalıplar kullanılarak kâğıda veya benzeri malzeme üzerine sanatçı tarafından yapılıp basılan resimlere özgün baskı adı verilmiştir. Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarında Avrupa'dan gelen öğrenciler sayesinde ilk çalışmalar başlatılarak çeşitli enstitülerde atölyelerin geliştirmesiyle birlikte sanatçılar farklı tekniklerle tanışmışlardır. 1970’lerden sonra öncü okullardan mezun olan sanatçıların açtığı atölyeler ve çeşitli kurumlar sayesinde özgün baskı yayılmaya başlamıştır. 1980’lerden sonra ise ülkenin içinde bulunduğu durumdan dolayı içerik, teknik olarak ve tanınırlık açısından kırılma noktaları geçiren baskı resim, bu dönemde dünyayla paralellik kazanmıştır. Günümüzde de Türkiye’de baskı sanatının önemi çeşitli kurumların açtığı atölyeler ve dijitalleşmenin kattığı yeniliklerle artmakta ve böylelikle bu sanatın benimsenip yaygınlaşması sağlanmaktadır.

The pictures made and printed by the artist on paper or similar material using patterns are called original prints. In the first years of the Republic, thanks to the students coming from Europe, the first studies were started and the artists were introduced to different techniques with the development of workshops in various institutes. After the 1970s, original printing began to spread thanks to the workshops and various institutions opened by the artists who graduated from pioneering schools. After the 1980s, printmaking, which had a breaking point in terms of content, technique and recognition, gained parallelism with the world in this period. Today, the importance of the art of printing in Turkey is increasing with the workshops opened by various institutions and the innovations brought by digitalization, and thus this art is adopted and spread.
