It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 16-17).İlk Türk kadın opera yönetmeni ve şan pedagogu Fatma Saadet İkesus Altan 3 Mart 1916’da İstanbul’da doğmuştur. Savaş döneminde doğmuş olan İkesus Altan, babasını cephede kaybetmesinin ardından ailesiyle beraber zorlu bir hayata adım atmıştır. O dönemde devletin bursla yurt dışına gönderdiği ilk öğrencilerden biri olmuştur ve gençliğinin büyük bir bölümünü Almanya’da opera ve şan alanında eğitim alarak geçirmiştir. Eğitimi sonrasında da Almanya’da opera alanında başarılarıyla ve müziğe olan yeteneğiyle de kendinden bahsettirmiştir. Türkiye’ye dönüşünün ardından kariyerini burada da ileriye taşıyan Altan, günümüz Türkiye’sinin opera ve şan alanındaki alt yapısını oluşturmuş ve bugün bilinen önemli ses sanatçılarının eğitmenliğini üstlenmiştir. Bu araştırmada İkesus Altan’ın doğumundan ölümüne dek yaşadıkları, Almanya’daki eğitim hayatı ve kariyeri, opera sanatçısı ve pedagog olarak müziğe ve sanat dünyasına katkıları incelenmiştir.The first Turkish woman director of opera and trill pedagogue Fatma Saadet İkesus Altan was born on March 3, 1916 in İstanbul. Since she was born at the time of World War I, she and her family had gone through some hardships after they had lost her father on the battlefield. She became one of the first students that was sent abroad for education by the government of Turkey and as a very young person she had spent majority of her time studying music and opera in Germany. After graduating, through her talent for music, she became one of well-known opera artists and vocalists in Germany. Coming back to Turkey, she had determined the basis of opera in Turkey and became the first woman performing it. She also had become the most famous voice coach for the artists who are currently quite famous, and she had enhanced her career even more through these.
