Türkiye'nin en büyük barajlarından biri olan Oymapınar Barajı’nın yapımı, 1984 yılında tamamlanmıştır. Baraj, enerji üretimi amacıyla kullanılmaktadır. Oymapınar Barajı, yapımı öncesi süreçten günümüze kadar gerek bulunduğu çevreyi gerekse yakınında yaşayan toplumu etkilemiştir. Araştırmada, bu etkileri açıklamak amacıyla barajın hem yapımında görev alan hem de Oymapınar köyünde ikamet eden kişilerin görüşlerinin yanı sıra çeşitli dönemlere dair gazete haberleri ve barajın etkileri üzerine yazılmış akademik yayınlardan yararlanılmıştır. Barajın etkilerini açıklama amacının beraberinde yapım öncesi ve yapım sürecinde yaşanan birçok zorluğa dair bilgi edinilmiştir. Elde edilen bilgiler ve fikirler doğrultusunda Oymapınar Barajı’nın toplumsal ve çevresel bağlamda yarattığı etkiler incelenmiştir. Etkiler incelendiğinde Oymapınar Barajı’nın yapım öncesi sürecinden günümüze kadar toplum ve çevre üzerinde olumlu ve olumsuz olarak değerlendirilebilecek birçok değişime yol açtığını söylemek mümkündür.Oymapınar Dam, located on the Manavgat River in Antalya, is a hydroelectric power plant and dam. The construction of the Oymapınar Dam, one of the largest dams in Turkey, was completed in 1984. The dam is used for energy production. Since its construction, Oymapınar Dam has profoundly impacted the surrounding environment and the nearby community. This research aims to explain these effects, utilizing the opinions of individuals who worked on the dam's construction and those residing in Oymapınar Village, as well as various periodic newspaper articles and academic publications about the dam's impacts. Besides explaining the effects, the study also gathered information about the numerous challenges faced during the pre-construction and construction phases. Based on the collected data and ideas, the societal and environmental impacts created by Oymapınar Dam have been examined.
