It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 15-16).Bu araştırma, Abdülhak Adnan Adıvar, Fuat Sezgin, Süheyl ünver, Aydın Sayılı ve Sevim Tekeli gibi tarihçilerin bilim tarihi konusunda yaptıkları çalışmaları esas alarak bilim tarihinin Türkiye’deki yerini ve gelişimini araştırmayı amaçlamıştır. Bu araştırmada bilim tarihinin doğası ve anlamı, Türkiye’de bilim tarihine olan ilginin başlaması, bilim tarihçileri ve alanlarında yaptıkları çalışmalar anlatılmak istenmiştir. Araştırmada bilim tarihi hakkında yazılan makaleler, köşe yazıları, haberler, tezlerden edinilen bilgiler Aydın Sayılı’nın öğrencilerinden Melek Dosay Gökdoğan ile yapılan bir röportajla zenginleştirilmiştir. Bilim tarihçilerinin yaptığı çalışmalar ve dönemin koşulları göz önünde bulundurularak yapılan araştırmada günümüzde bilim tarihinin yeri ve önemine de değinilmiştir. Birincil ve ikincil kaynakların katkılarıyla hazırlanan bu araştırmanın asıl amacı, cumhuriyet döneminde yapılan bilim tarihi çalışmalarını okuyuca aktarmaktır.Based on the studies of Abdülhak Adnan Adıvar, Fuat Sezgin, Süheyl ünver, Aydın Sayılı and Sevim Tekeli on the history of science, the main goal of this research is to identify the importance and the development of history of science in Turkey. This research includes the content of the history of science, how the interest of history of science began in Turkey, science historians in Turkey and their studies. This research has largely benefitted from the information provided by articles, news, theses as well as the interview with Melek Dosay Gökdoğan who was a student of Aydın Sayılı. Taking into account the studies of scientists and the conditions of the period, this study also discusses the place and importance of the history of science today.
