It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 16-17)Bu araştırma, Gülhane Askeri Tıp Akademisi (GATA) ve burada bulunan Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı’nın tarihini inceleyip bu kurumların Türk tıbbı ve oftalmolojisi üzerindeki rolüyle ilgilenmektedir. GATA, Türkiye’de ve dünya genelinde tıbbın gelişimi ile ilerleyişinde önemli bir sahiptir ve Türk tıbbının modernleşmesinde kilit bir konumda yer almıştır. GATA Göz AD ise, öncelikle tıp eğitimi ve hastane yönetiminde görülebilen yeniliklerle Türk göz hastanelerinin gelişiminde pay sahibi olmuş, Türk oftalmolojisine önemli katkılarda bulunmuştur. Araştırma, Gülhane’nin ve Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı’nın kuruluşundan itibaren yaşadıkları evrimsel süreci, bilimsel ve akademik yönlerden gelişimini, Türk tıbbına katkılarını ve bu süre zarfında göz dalında kazanılan ödüllere odaklanmaktadır. Ayrıca, bu kurumların sağlık eğitimi ve uygulamaları üzerindeki etkilerini ele alırken ulusal ve uluslararası düzeyde saygınlığını ve bilinirliğini pekiştirmiş olan başarılarını da göstermektedir. Bu çalışma, Türk oftalmoloji ve tıp tarihinde önemli bir yer tutan bu mirası anlamlandırmak ve takdir etmek adına hizmet etmektedir.This research examines the history of Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) and its Department of Ophthalmology while observing with the role of these institutions on Turkish medicine and ophthalmology. GATA has an important role in the development and progress of medicine in Turkey and the world as it has been in a key position in the modernization of Turkish medicine. GATA’s Eye Department has had a share in the development of Turkish eye hospitals and made significant contributions to Turkish ophthalmology, primarily through innovations in medical education and hospital management. The research focuses on the evolutionary process that Gülhane and the Department of Ophthalmology have experienced since their establishment, their scientific and academic development, their contributions to Turkish medicine, and the awards won in the field of ophthalmology during this period. It also demonstrates the achievements of these institutions, which have reinforced their reputation and recognition at national and international levels, while addressing their impact on health education and practice.
