It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Dünya Savaşı, tüm dünyada radikal değişiklere neden oldu. Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun yenilgiye uğraması ve toprak bütünlüğünün bozulması Türk halkının kısıtlı şartlar altında, büyük bir mücadele göstererek Kurtuluş Savaşı ile bağımsızlığını ilan etmesini sağladı. Türkiye’nin her bir noktasında bu savaşın etkileri hissedildi ve Yunan ordusunun ilerleyebildiği son nokta Haymana ilçesiydi. Bu süreçte, Yunanlar tarafından işgal edilen Güzelcekale köyü, Türklerin karargâh olarak kullandığı Çalış köyü ve bu iki köy arasında köprü görevi gören Durupınar köyü önemli rol oynadı. Bu üç köy savaşın üç ayrı yüzünü yaşadığı için önem arz etmektedir.The First World War, which took place between 1914 and 1918, caused radical changes worldwide. The defeat of the Ottoman Empire and the disruption of its territorial integrity led the Turkish people to declare their independence through the War of Independence, despite limited conditions. The effects of this war were felt in every part of Turkey, and the farthest point the Greek army could advance was the Haymana district. During this process, the village of Güzelcekale, occupied by the Greeks, the village of Çalış, used as a headquarters by the Turks, and the village of Durupınar, which served as a bridge between these two villages, played significant roles.
