It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 15-16).Bu projenin amacı Nimet ve Tahsin özgüç’ün kişisel ve akademik yaşamlarını incelemektir. 20. yüzyılın başında doğan çift, Türk Arkeolojisi’nin önde gelen isimlerinden olmuş ve bu bilim dalına yeni bir şekil vermişlerdir. Projenin ilk bölümünde çiftin gençlik yılları, fakülte dönemi ve ilk kazıları incelenecektir. İkinci bölümde ise çiftin evlilik ve aile hayatları anlatılacaktır. Aynı zamanda bu bölümde Kültepe, Kaman Höyük ve Acemhöyük hafriyatları, çalışma metotlarına dikkat çekmek için incelenecektir. Son bölümde ise Tahsin özgüç’ün ölümünün ardından sonra Nimet özgüç ve yaptıkları hafriyatların modern Arkeoloji bilimine katkılarına değinilecektir.This paper aims to investigate the personal and academic lives of Nimet and Tahsin özgüç. Born in the early 20th century, the couple were one of the leading figures in Turkish Archaeology and with their work they reshaped this field of study. The first part of the paper explores the couple’s early lives including the university period and their first excavations. The second part of the paper probes the couple’s marriage and family life. Further in this part excavations of Kültepe, Kaman Höyük and Acemhöyük will be analysed to emphasize on their methods of study.
