It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Tüm dönemlerde ve tüm ülkelerde az çok tespit edilen bir meslek veya hobidir. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Döneminde de Orta Asya Türkleri, Selçuklular ve Osmanlılardan alınan gelenek değişime uğrayarak daha modern, yenilikçi ve farklı bir heykeltıraşlık sanatı ortaya koyulmuştur. Bu değişime katkıda bulunmuş veya öncülük etmiş denilebilecek, Heykeltıraşlık sanatının ikinci kuşak sanatçılarından olan ve üstatlarından sayılan Tankut Öktem bu araştırma yazısının ana konusudur. Bu araştırmada Tankut Öktem‟in mesleği ile alakalı kitaplardan, dokümanlardan, yayınlardan, kızından ve meslektaşından alınan genel dönemle alakalı ve kendisi ile ilgili özel bilgilerden yararlanılarak kendisinin özel hayatı, mesleki hayatı ve öğretmenlik hayatı aktarılmıştır. Tankut Öktem‟in doğduğu zamandaki genel durum, Tankut Öktem‟den önceki heykeltıraşlık sanatı, Öktem‟in dönemindeki heykeltıraşlık mesleği, kendisinin eserleri, kişisel yaşamı ve öğretmenliği Tankut Öktem‟in Türk heykeltıraşlığına katkısını ve mirasını anlayabilmek açısından değerlidir. It is a profession or hobby that is more or less identified in all periods of time and in all countries. In the Period of the Turkish Republic, the tradition that is taken and preserved from the periods of d the Central Asian Turks, Seljuk Ottoman, changed radically and became a more modern, innovative and different innovative art of sculpture. Tankut Öktem, who is one of the second generation artists of sculpture art who can be said to have contributed or pioneered this change, is the main subject of this research paper. In this research, private life, professional life and teaching life of Tankut Öktem are explained by making use of the books, documents, publications, general and private information obtained from his daughter and his colleague. The general situation at the time Tankut Öktem was born, the art of sculpture before Tankut Öktem, the profession of sculpture during Öktem's period, his works, his personal life and his teaching carrier are valuable for understanding Tankut Öktem's contribution and legacy to the Turkish sculpture.
