It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 19-21).Analitik felsefe, 20. yüzyılda kendini göstermeye başlamış bir felsefe geleneğidir. Bu geleneğin Türkiye sınırları içerisinde yaygın olduğunu söylemek zordur. Arda Denkel, bu alanda yaptığı çalışmalarla analitik felsefe geleneğinin Türkiye’de yayılması için büyük emekler sarf etmiş, ülkemizin öne çıkan üniversitelerinde bu geleneğin etkin olmasında rol oynamış bir kişidir. Arda Denkel, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Felsefe Bölümü’nün kurulmasına ön ayak olmuş, Türkiye Felsefe Kurumu, Türkiye Bilimler Akademisi ve Avrupa Analitik felsefe Derneği (ESAP) gibi kurumlarda üyeliği olan ve Philosophers’ Index’e (Felsefeciler Dizini) girmeyi başarmış birkaç Türk felsefeciden biriydi. Arda Denkel’in felsefe alanında Türkiye sınırları içerisine sıkıştırılamayacak bir yazın yelpazesi olmakla birlikte Türkiye’de analitik felsefe geleneğinin gelişimindeki etkisi büyük olmuştur. Felsefe Tartışmaları Dergisi’nin çıkarılmasında çok büyük destekleri olmuş, çalışmalarıyla, ardında bıraktığı kitaplarıyla, farklı dillere çevrilen ve bazısı yurtdışında çeşitli dergilerde yayımlanan makaleleriyle Türkiye’de analitik felsefe literatürüne çok büyük katkılar sağlamıştır. Bu çalışmada, Arda Denkel’in analitik felsefe geleneğinin Türkiye’de gelişmesi için yaptığı çalışmalar onun hayatı ekseninde ele alınarak anlatılmıştır.Analytic philosophy is a branch of philosophy that showed up around 20th century. It is adopted generally in native English speaking countries. It would be inappropriate to claim that analytical philosophy is widely spread in Turkey. Keeping this in mind, Arda Denkel wanted to disseminate analytical philosophy in Turkey and put a considerable amount of effort to make it happen, and he had an impact on the effectiveness of analytical philosophy tradition in some well-known universities of Turkey. He exerted an influence in the establishment of Philosophy Faculty of Boğaziçi University. He was a member of Turkey Philosophy Institution, of Turkish Academy of Science (TUBA), of European Society for Analytic Philosophy (ESAP). He was one of the few Turkish philosophers who succeded to be named in The Philosophers’ Index. His fame was beyond the borders of Turkey. Besides, his efforts in the acknowledgement of analytical philosophy cannot be underestimated. He was the one, right from the start, who supported the publishing of the magazine called as Felsefe Tartışmaları which was one of its kind in Turkey. Furthermore, some of his articles are translated into mostly English but also Greek and German.
