It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 16-17).Beyoğlu semti İstanbul’un merkezinde bulunur. Semtin içinde bulunan İstiklal Caddesi, semtin kültürel, tarihsel ve sosyal hayatının merkezi niteliğindedir. Semtin tarihi Bizans İmparatorluğuna dayanmakla birlikte eski adı Pera’dır. Osmanlı tarihinden bu yana Beyoğlu batı kültürünü sosyal etkinliklerin, düşünce akımlarının temellendiği yerlerden biridir. Beyoğlu içerisinde bulunan Atlas Pasajı, pasajlar tarihi hakkında ilgi çekici bilgilere yer vermekle birlikte pasajın değişimini incelemek Beyoğlu ve İstanbul tarihi hakkında da derin bilgiler edinilmesine yardımcı olacaktır. Yapılan bu araştırmada Beyoğlu’nun köklü tarihinden bahsedilmekle birlikte içinde bulunan değişime tanık olup, kendisi de belirli değişikliklerden geçmiş Atlas Pasajı ve Sinemasının Beyoğlu kültürüne olan etkisi anlatılmıştır. İstanbul’u, kentsel, kültürel ve sosyal değişimi anlamak için pasajları daha yakından incelemenin yanında bu değişimi gözlemlemek elzemdir. Yapılan röportajlar ve konu üzerinde araştırılmış olan kaynaklar yakın tarih ile uzak arasında bağ kurulmasının yanı sıra, pasajın Beyoğlu ile etkileşimini ve bıraktığı mirası gösterir.The district of Beyoğlu lays in the center of İstanbul. İstiklal avenue is the center of Beyoğlu’s cultural, historical and social life. The history of Beyoğlu predates to the Byzantine times which the name at the time was Pera. The influences of western culture, had since been foundated here. Analyzing the arcade of Atlas not only puts forward interesting datum but is essential to understand the changes in social, cultural and econmical changes of İstanbul.
