It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 13).Dil Derneği 1987’den beri Türkçenin korunması, geliştirilmesi, bilim, sanat ve teknik terimlerle ilgili olan bütün kelimeleri kapsayacak şekilde zenginleştirilmesi üzerine çalışan bir dernektir. 12 Eylül 1980 darbesinden sonra Türk Dil Kurumu’nun (TDK), Atatürk Kültür, Dil ve Tarih Yüksek Kurumunun altına alınması ile, TDK’nin görevlerini yerine getiremez duruma geldiği düşünülmüş ve dolayısıyla Sevgi Özel, Ali Püsküllüoğlu ve Haldun Özen Dil Derneği’nin kuruluş çalışmalarına başlamıştır. Kuruluş sürecinde birçok zorluk ile karşılaşan Dil Derneği, kurulduğu günden itibaren Türkçenin korunması ve geliştirilmesi için birçok faaliyette bulunmuştur. Bu makalede Dil Derneği’nin kuruluş süreci, amacı, faaliyetleri ve tarihçesi incelenecektir.Language Association is an association that has been working on preserving, protecting, improving and enriching Turkish, since 1987, aiming for Turkish to contain all of the necessary terms regarding arts, sciences and technical phrases. After the 12th of September 1980 coup d’etat Turkish Language Society joined the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History. As a consequence, it was thought that the Turkish Language Society was no longer able to fulfil its original aim. Thereupon Sevgi Özel, Ali Püsküllüoğlu and Haldun Özen started the process of constituting Language Association. Language Association, which faced many difficulties during its establishment processes, has been conducting various activities and projects in order to protect and enhance Turkish.
