It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Özellikle Süryanilerin Yeşilköy’e olan göçlerine odaklanan çalışma, Süryani toplumunun Türkiye’deki genel tarihini ve geleneklerine ilişkin bilgiler sunmaktadır. 1960-1980 yılları arasında Mardin’den Yeşilköy’e yoğun olarak göç eden Süryaniler ile röportajlar yapıldı. Bu sayede Süryanilerin göç sürecindeki deneyimleri ve düşünceleri aktarıldı. Röportaj yapılanların hem kadınlar hem de erkeklerden oluşması, farklı bakış açılarının derlenmesinde yardımcı oldu. Mesleklerin diyakoz, medrese hocası ve tüccarlık olması çeşitlilik açısından konuyu daha geniş bir perspektife yaydı. Bu sayede Süryani kültürünün tanıtılması ve Yeşilköy’de süregelen yaşamlarına ışık tutulması sağlandı.This study analyzes the causes and process of the Assyrian migration, which peaked between the 1960s and 1980 and was pursued in the 2000s. This report mainly focuses on Assyrian migration from Mardin to Yeşilköy. The history of Assyrian culture in Türkiye and the information about their customs have been gathered from research. Interviews were conducted with both men and women, from the era of peak migration, to collect a diverse set of opinions about the time. The participants’ jobs differed: deacon, madrasa teacher and merchant. This difference expanded the possible perspectives.
