It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 21).Çankaya Belediyesi, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin en önemli belediyelerinden bir tanesidir. Çankaya Belediyesini özel kılan bir kaç tane özelliği vardır; Cumhuriyet’in ilan edildiği yer olması, Kurtuluş Savaşı’nın idare edildiği yer olması, bakanlıklar ve büyükelçilikleri barındırması ve en önemlisi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün kabrinin bulunmasıdır. Çankaya’nın bu denli önemli bir merkez oluşu, bizim bu ilçenin kültürel faaliyetlerini araştırmaya itmiştir. Çankaya Belediyesi’nin tarihi çok geçmişe gitmese bile kuruluş dönemi kırsaldan kente göçün gerçekleştiği döneme denk gelmiştir. Kırsaldan gelen vatandaşları şehir yaşamına adapte olmasında kültür faaliyetlerinin de rolü büyüktür. Araştırma projemizin amacı 1984-1999 yılları arasındaki kültür çalışmalarının neler olduğunu bulmak, halka katkısının ve geri dönüşlerin neler olduğunu dönemin belediye başkanlarıyla beraber araştırmaktır.Municipality of Çankaya is one of the most important ones in Turkey. There are some features that make Municipality of Çankaya special; Çankaya is the place where the Turkish Republic was declared, it is the place where Independence War was directed, it is the place where Ministries and Embassies are located and most important of all, it is the place where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s Mausoleum is located. Çankaya’s being such an important center, has led us to research its cultural activities. Evenifthehistory of Municipality of Çankaya does not go to the far past, its establishment period coincides to the period of migration from rural areas to urban areas. Cultural activities play an important role in the adaptation of citizens coming from rural areas to urban areas.
