It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 18-19).Bilkent Üniversitesi'nde uzun yıllar eğitim vermiş olan David Davenport birçok insanın hayatına dokunmuş, Bilkent Üniversitesi'nde ve öğrencilerinde derin izler bırakmış saygıdeğer bir hocaydı. Kimseyi ayırt etmeden sergilediği dostane tavırları ile akıllarda kalan David Davenport’un kaybı sevenlerini derinden yaralamış, onu tanıyanlarda ve uzun yıllar boyunca katkı sağladığı Bilkent Üniversitesi'nde yeri doldurulamayacak boşluklar bırakmıştır. Öğrencileri için unutulmaz bir hoca olan David Davenport, Bilkent Üniversitesi'nin ve üniversitenin bilgisayar mühendisliği bölümünün gelişmesinde büyük bir rol oynamıştır. Bu araştırmada, Bilkent Üniversitesi'nde derin izler bırakmış David Davenport’a vefa borcumuzu öderken, yetenekli bir bilgisayar mühendisini İngiltere’den Türkiye’ye getiren nedenleri ve Türkiye’ de yaşadıklarını; bu yaşadıklarının; Bilkent Üniversitesi'ni, öğrencileri ve David Davenport’u tanıyanları nasıl etkilediği üzerinde durulacaktır.David Davenport, a teacher who affected many students lives profoundly and in a positive way. For most of his students he was a caring, understanding and honourable teacher. He is still remembered for his friendly and discriminative behaviours. His sad loss affected many people profoundly. It is known that his place cannot be replaced. He was an unforgettable teacher who developed Bilkent University Computer Engineering Department and the university itself. In this research we wanted to bring to light this amazing and talented engineer’s life.
