It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 15).1 Ekim 1995 yılında yerel saat ile 17.57'de Afyonkarahisar'ın Dinar ilçesinde Türkiye'nin ilk çöküntü depremi olan Dinar Depremi meydana gelmiştir. Bu deprem Denizli, Isparta, Burdur ve Dinar'a bağlı Yakaköy, Kızıllı ve Yapağılı mahallelerinde 90 insanın hayatını kaybetmesine, 200'den fazlasının yaralanmasına ve 14.156 binanın hasar görmesine yol açmıştır. Dinar Depremi, Türkiye'nin ilk çöküntü depremi olması ve doğal ve beşeri çevreye vermiş olduğu zararla, teknik ve toplumsal açılardan inceleme altına alınmış, konu teknik uzmanlar yanında depremi yaşayanlarla da yapılmış görüşmelerle araştırılmıştır. Depremin, teknik olarak Türkiye’nin deprem hazırlığı açısından önemi yanında, sorumlu örgütlenme ve depremi yaşayanlar yönünden nasıl yaşandığı ve yerleşim yeri olarak Dinar’ın geçirdiği süreç de araştırma merceğine alınmıştır. Dinar Depreminin, öncesi ve sonrasıyla, Türkiye deprem tarihinde yaşananlar, öğrenilenler ve kayda geçip geçmeyenlerle önemli bir kırılma olduğu görülmektedir.On October 1, 1995, at 17.57 in Afyonkarahisar’s district Dinar the first collapse earthquake of Turkey happened. This earthquake caused 90 people to lose their lives, 200 people to get wounded and 14.156 buildings to be damaged in Denizli, Isparta, Burdur and Yakaköy, Kızıllı, and Yapağlı which are connected to Dinar. The Dinar Earthquake due to being the first collapse earthquake of Turkey and the damage it caused to the natural and human environment was examined in technical and societal ways with the help of interviews done with technical experts and the people who experienced it. In addition to the importance of the Dinar earthquake in terms of Turkey’s earthquake preparedness, the organizations that were responsible for the earthquake, and how it was experienced by the people who went through it were also scrutinized.
