It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. Dönemsel süreçte tüfek üretiminin Huğlu ve Üzümlü özelinde incelenmesinden önce, Türkiye’deki tüfek üretiminin tarihsel gelişimi 1. Dünya Savaşı’ndan başlayarak Cumhuriyet Dönemi ve 1950 sonrası olmak üzere kronolojik olarak ele alındı. Türkiye’de tüfek üretiminin yeri hakkında dönemsel bilgiler verildikten sonra Huğlu ve Üzümlü özelinde tüfek üretiminin nasıl geliştiği kaynaklarla aktarıldı. Bu özelde, ilk kurulduğu günden bu yana Huğlu Tüfek Kooperatifi’nin ürettiği tüfeklerin zaman içerisinde nasıl değişim gösterdiği, bu tüfeklerin ulusal ve uluslararası mecrada tanınırlığı ve başarıları, Huğlu ve Üzümlü’de bir gelenek olan tüfek üretiminin günümüze gelmede geçirdiği süreçler aktarıldı. 1960’lı yıllarda tüfek üretim geleneğine dahil olmuş ustalar Cengiz Özşahin ve Osman Özşahin ile yapılan röportajlar ile bu zanaatın Huğlu ve Üzümlü köylerine ekonomik ve sosyal katkısı, tüfek üretiminde yer alan iş bölümü, üretim sürecindeki incelikleriyle beraber aydınlatılmaya çalışıldı. Sanayileşme ve fabrikalaşmanın Huğlu ve Üzümlü’den yurt dışına yapılan tüfek ihracatına etkisi ele alınarak Huğlu ve Üzümlü’deki ustaların değişen günümüz misyonları aktarıldı.This article examines the process of rifle production in Huğlu and Üzümlü territories, from its origins, rooted in the soldiers from Huğlu returning after the War of Independence, to the establishment of cooperatives, its first export, and its transformation into modern mass production today. The analysis is conducted through the lens of rifle production techniques, Turkey's socioeconomic conditions at the time, and the social and geographical situation of the villages of Huğlu and Üzümlü. The historical development of rifle manufacturing in Turkey is presented chronologically, starting from World War I, moving through the Republican Era, and into the post-1950s. After providing contextual information about the role of rifle manufacturing in Turkey, the development of rifle production in Huğlu and Üzümlü is discussed based on primary source, news articles, thesises and interviews with Osman Özşahin and Cengiz Özşahin who are locals of the Huğlu and Üzümlü villages and had an active role in the rifle production. In this context, the evolution of rifles produced by the Huğlu Rifle Cooperative since its inception, their growing recognition and success in national and international arenas, and the processes involved in maintaining the tradition of rifle manufacturing in Huğlu are conveyed.
