It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 23).Sekizinci cumhurbaşkanı Turgut Özal’ın döneminde ve 1980’li yılların sonunda alınan ekonomik kararlar, Türk ekonomisinde köklü değişimler yapmış ve yeni yollar açmış kabul edilir. Bu dönemde Türk ekonomisini dış ticarete açmak, özel sektörü güçlendirmek ve teşvik etmek, uluslararası ihracatı artırmak amacıyla çeşitli kararlar ve aksiyonlar alınmıştır. Işın Çelebi, Türkiye ekonomisinin değişime uğradığı bu dönemde ekonomi bakanlığı yapmış ve bu kararların alınmasında temel aktör olmuştur. Işın Çelebi, bunun dışında ANAP Milletvekilliği ve DPT İktisadi Planlama Dairesi Uzmanı olarak kamuda idame ettirdiği görevlerinin yanında MEPAŞ’taki genel müdürlük göreviyle özel sektörle de iç içe olma fırsatını yakalamıştır. Türkiye’de 1980’li yılların sonlarının ekonomisini kapsamlı bir şekilde anlamak için Işın Çelebi’nin anıları ve yazdıkları büyük bir önem taşımaktadır. Bu araştırmada, Işın Çelebi’nin özel hayatını ve dönemin ekonomik süreçlerini ve yaşadıkları olayları anlattığı kendi kitabından, kendisiyle gerçekleştirdiğimiz röportajdan ve dönemin ekonomisini anlatan belgesel ve dergilerden faydalanarak Işın Çelebi’nin anıları ve Türkiye’nin geçirdiği ekonomik değişimler anlatılmıştır.The economic decisions taken during the period of the Turkey’s eighth president Turgut Özal and in the end of the 1980s are considered to have made radical changes in the Turkish economy and opened new paths. During this period, various decisions and actions were taken in order to open the Turkish economy to foreign trade, to strengthen and encourage the private sector, and to increase international exports. Işın Çelebi served as the Ministry of Economy in this period when the Turkish economy was facing lots of changes and he was the main actor while taking these decisions. In addition to his duties in the public sector as ANAP Deputy and DPT Economic Planning Department Specialist, Işın Çelebi had the opportunity to be intertwined with the private sector as the general manager at MEPAŞ. Işın Çelebi's memoirs and writings are of great importance in order to comprehensively understand the economy of the 1980s in Turkey.
