It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 16).Yeni kurulan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devleti’nde birçok sanayi sektöründe olduğu gibi kağıt sanayisinde de dünya standartlarını yakalamak gerekliliği doğmuştur. Ġstanbul üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi Kimya Bölümünde öğrenimini tamamlayan Mehmet Ali Kağıtçı daha sonra Almanya ve Fransa’da çeşitli kağıt fabrikalarında ve enstitülerde çalışmış ve Kağıt Mühendisi unvanı almıştır. Türkiye’ye dönüşünün ardından kağıt ve karton üretiminde kullanılabilecek hammade araşıylarına başlayan ve gerekli makamlara raporlar yazan Kağıtçı bu süreçte çeşitli engelleme ve yalanlamalara maruz kalmıştır. Daha sonra kendisinin de fikri alınarak kurulan Ġzmit Kağıt Fabrikası’nda müdürlük görevinde bulunan Kağıtçı çeşitli sabotajlarla görevinden alınmıştır. Türkiye’de Kağıt Sanayisinin öncülerinden olan Mehmet Ali Kağıtçı’nın hayat hikayesi ülkede kağıt sanayisinin gelişimi ve günümüz sanayisine yansıması açısından anlatılmaya değerdir.In the paper industry of newly established Turkish Republic, a necessity to reach the world standarts in the industry was arised. Mehmet Ali Kağıtçı, who completed his education in Istanbul University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry, later worked in paper factories and institutes in Germany and France, and received the title of Paper Engineer. After returning Turkey he started to making researches about raw materials in Turkey which can be used in production of paper. Proposals had been made by him to government were refused by the contributions of foreign companies and he encountered restrictions in this years. Later, Kağıtçı, who was the director of Izmit Paper Factory which was established by taking the idea of himself, was dismissed with various sabotages.
