It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 21-22).Doğan Kuban, 1926 senesinde Paris’te dünyaya geldi. Çocukluğunun ilk dönemlerini Avrupa’da geçiren Kuban, 6 yaşında Türkiye’ye döndü; ortaokul ve lise eğitimini Ankara’da tamamladı. Yükseköğrenimini İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Mimarlık bölümünde tamamladı ve 1949 senesinde mezun oldu. Türkiye’de hem akademisyenlik hem de restorasyon çalışmalarına danışmanlık yapan Doğan Kuban, çeşitli okullarda mimarlık ve sanat tarihi dersleri verdi. İstanbul Kalenderhane Camii, Sivas Divriği Ulu Camii restorasyonları, Safranbolu ve Lefkoşa şehir planlamaları gibi çalışmalarla önemli işler yürüten Kuban, 22 Eylül 2021 tarihinde sağlık sorunları nedeniyle hayatını kaybetti.Doğan Kuban was born in Paris in 1926. Kuban, who spent the first periods of his childhood in Europe, returned to Turkey at the age of 6; he completed his secondary and high school education in Ankara. He completed his higher education at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Architecture and graduated in 1949. Doğan Kuban, who is both an academic and a consultant for restoration works in Turkey, has taught architecture and art history at various schools.
