It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 15).Bodrum turizmden önce küçük bir kasabaydı. Geçimini balıkçılık, süngercilik, narenciye üreticiliği ile geçiriyordu. İmkanları ise büyük il ve ilçelere göre daha kısıtlıydı. Her şey Bodrum’un turistik bir değer olmasının anlanmasıyla başladı. Bodrum’da turizm alanında yaşanan gelişmeler, Halikarnas Balıkçısı olarak da bilinen Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı’nın Bodrum’a sürgün edilmesi ile başladı. Ardından bu gelişmeler Bodrum Turizm Derneği’nin kurulması ve ilk yatırımcıların yaptığı yatırımlar ile hız kazanmış, sonuç olarak Bodrum yerli ve yabancı turistler için Türkiye’nin en popüler bölgelerinden biri olmuştur. Bu çalışmada önceden küçük bir kasaba olan Bodrum’un turizmle tanışma süreci ile bu sürecin Bodrum’u sosyal ve ekonomik olarak nasıl etkilediği ve bu süreçte Bodrum’un turizm açısından Türkiye’yi nasıl etkilediği incelenmiştir.Bodrum war a small town before tourism. Its livelihood was fishing, sponge-fishing and citrus production. Its facilities and opportunities were low compared to big cities or other towns. Then it all started to change when it was understood that Bodrum can be a potential touristic town. The first developments that are related with tourism started with Cevat Şakir Kabağaçlı aka Halikarnas Balıkçısı being exiled to Bodrum by a piece on a paper that he wrote. Afterwards these developments continued on the foundation of the “Bodrum Turizm Derneği” union and the investments made by the first investors of Bodrum. Which led to Bodrum being one of the top locations for local and foreign tourists in Turkey. In this study we look at how Bodrum got introduced to tourism and how this affected Bodrum socially and economically.
