It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 17).Bir Bulgar Türkü olan Osman Kılıç, 1920 yılında Bulgaristan'ın Razgrad vilayetinde doğdu. Komünist Parti'nin iktidara gelmesi üzerine Bulgaristan'da yaşayan azınlıkların maruz kaldığı kötü muameleye tanık oldu. Kılıç, kendisini taraflarına çekerek Türklerin oyunu almak isteyen Komünist Parti'nin planına alet olmadı. Bu sebeple Türkiye lehine casusluk yaptığı iddiası ile tutuklandı ve idam cezasına çarptırıldı. Bulgaristan'da idam cezasının kaldırması üzerine yaklaşık on beş sene hapis yattı. Adnan Menderes Hükûmeti, İstanbul'daki Bulgaristan Başkonsolosluğunda görev yaparken tutuklanan, Bulgaristan vatandaşı Çobanov ile Kılıç'ı takas etmek için Bulgar Hükûmeti ile anlaştı ve bu sürecin ardından Osman Kılıç Türkiye'ye geldi. Bu araştırmadaki bilgiler özellikle otobiyografik eseri "Kader Kurbanı" ve kendisi ile gerçekleştirilen röportaj çerçevesinde elde edildi.Osman Kılıç who is a Bulgarian Turk was born in Razgrad, a city in Bulgaria, in 1920. Mr.Kılıç witnessed the bad treatments of Communist Party over minority groups in Bulgaria. Communist Party wanted Osman Kılıç to be a member of the party to have votes of Turks, but he didn't choose to join. This decision made him arrested as a spy and he got execution punishment. After the execution punishment terminated in Bulgaria, his punishment was changed as fifteen years in prison. Çobanov working at Consulate General of Bulgaria in Istanbul caught on the very act and imprisoned. Adnan Menderes Government made an agreement with Bulgaria which involved the exchange of Kılıç and Çobanov and Mr. Kılıç moved into Turkey after the exchange agreement.
