It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 16-17).Türkiye’de kadınlara belediye seçimlerinde seçme ve seçilme hakkı 1930 yılında verildi. Bundan yirmi sene sonra da Müfide İlhan, 1950 yılında Demokrat Parti'den aday olarak Türkiye’nin ilk kadın il Belediye Başkanı olarak Mersin ilinden seçildi. 1951 yılına kadar kaldığı bu görevde Mersin halkına hizmet edecek birçok çalışmada bulundu. Bu makalede Müfide İlhan’ın başkanlık dönemine kadar olan hayatı, Demokrat Parti altında yaptığı siyasi çalışmalar, Demokrat Parti’den ayrılışı ve daha sonrasında bulunduğu sosyal faaliyetler araştırılmıştır.In Turkey, women were given the right to vote and be elected in municipal elections in 1930. Twenty years later, Müfide İlhan was elected from the province of Mersin as Turkey's first female provincial mayor, being a candidate from the Democratic Party in 1950. She stayed in this position until 1951 and she committed to many works in order to serve the people of Mersin.
