It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 14-15).Bilkent Üniversitesi Mütercim Tercümanlık Bölümü’nün tarihi, kuruluş döneminden itibaren gelişme süreci adım adım incelenerek araştırılmıştır. Bu kapsamda Türkiye’nin küreselleşme süreci göz önünde bulundurularak bölümün Türkiye çeviri sektörü içerisindeki yerine değinilmiş ve ülkedeki benzer diğer bölümler ile arasındaki farklılıklardan bahsedilmiştir. Bölümün kuruluşunda etkin rol oynayan öğretim görevlileri ve bölümden mezunlarla görüşülerek konu hakkında içgörü edinilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Bu araştırma sonucunda Bilkent Üniversitesi Mütercim Tercümanlık Bölümü’nün Türkiye’deki yeri ve önemi ortaya konmuştur.The history of Bilkent University, Department of Translation and Interpretation was investigated by the step-by-step analysis of its development process since its establishment. In this context, the place of the department within the Turkish translation industry was addressed and the differences between the department in question and other suchlike departments were mentioned. It was aimed to gain insight about the subject by interviewing the alumni and the academics, who had taken an active role during the department’s establishment.
