It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 25-27).Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluşundan sonra kadınların iş gücüne katılımı her gecen gün artmıştır. Turk kadını, farklı mesleklerde aktif roller almasına yardım eden yeni haklar kazanmıştır. Bu araştırma Cumhuriyetin kuruluşundan günümüze dek kadınların Türk Emniyet Teşkilatın’da görev alması konusuna değinmiştir. Yapılan araştırmalar daha çok Türk Emniyet Teşkilatı’ndaki ilk kadın Emniyet müdürü ve ilk kadın ilçe emniyet müdürünü temsil eden Feriha Sanerk ve İnci Aksoy hakkında yapılmıştır. Feriha Sanerk Turk Emniyet Teşkilatındaki ilk kadın Türk emniyet müdürü olmuştur. Sanerk mesleğine 1946’da polis muavini olarak başlamıştır. Beş yıl sonra ilk kadın Türk Emniyet Müdürü olarak göreve gelmiştir. Kariyerine farklı başarılar ve tecrübeler kazanarak devam etmiş ve 1974 yılında emekli olmuştur. Araştırmanın ikinci yarısını konu alan İnci Aksoy ise Türk Emniyet Teşkilatındaki ilk kadın ilçe emniyet müdürü olmuştur. Türk Emniyet Teşkilatına 1980 tarihinde katılmış ve mesleğine aktif olarak Kahramanmaraş, Gebze ve İstanbul şehirlerinde devam etmiştir. 1972 tarihinde ilk kadın ilce emniyet muduru olarak goreve atanmıştır. Kazanmış olduğu başarılar neticesinde medyadan ve teşkilat icerisinden olumlu tepkiler almıştır. 2013 yılında Türk Emniyet Teşkilatı’ndan yaş haddi nedeniyle emekli olmuştur. Her iki kadın da meslek hayatında aktif rol almaktan korkan butun kadınlara iyi birer rol model olmuş ve herkese cinsiyetin meslek sahibi olmada belirleyici bir etken olmadığını göstermiştir. Ancak günümüzde kadınlar teşkilat içerisinde birçok sorunla karşılaşmaktadır. Kadınların polislik mesleğine katılımında öncü adımlar atılmasına rağmen, kadın polisler erkek polislerden sayıca azınlıkta kalmıştır.After the establishment of the Turkish Republic, women's participation in the labor force has increased day by day. Turkish women have started to gain new rights that help them to play active roles in different jobs. This research has points on the women's participation in the Turkish Police Department from the establishment of the Turkish Republic to today. To be clear, it mainly focuses on the Feriha Sanerk and İnci Aksoy that represent the first female police commissioner and chief of police in the Turkish Police Department history. Feriha Sanerk was the first female police commissioner. Sanerk started her official job in 1946 as a police sergeant. After five years, she became the first woman police commissioner. She continued her career with different successful positions and achievements. She retired from the Turkish Police Department in 1974. On the other hand, İnci Aksoy was the first female chief of police in a district. She entered the Turkish Police Department in 1980 and continued her police career in Kahramanmaraş, Gebze, and İstanbul. In 1972, she became the first female chief of police in a district. She received a lot of positive reactions from police department and media during her tenure for her accomplishments. She retired from the Turkish police Department in 2013 because of the age limit. Both women become role-model for ones being afraid of taking an active role in work-life, and they show everyone that gender is not a determinant for having a job. However, today, female police officers experience various problems in their professional lives.
