It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Prof. Dr. Süreyya Tahsin Aygün, 1895-1981 yılları arasında yaşamış ve Türk bilim tarihinde iz bırakmış önemli bir isimdir. Aygün, bakteriyoloji alanında pek çok çalışma yapmış ve kök hücre araştırmalarına katkı sağlamıştır. Türk ordusunda da yer alan Aygün, Kurtuluş Savaşı döneminde Serum ve Aşı Enstitüsünde çalışmalar yapmıştır. Veterinerlik kariyeri boyunca yaptığı çalışmalar ve Kurtuluş Savaşı dönemindeki çabaları, Türk tıp ve bilim dünyasına önemli katkılar sağlamıştır. En bilinen başarılarından biri, Talidomid ilacının Türkiye'ye girişini engellemesidir. Kariyerinin yanı sıra kişisel hayatı da bu çalışmada incelenecektir.Ord. Prof. Dr. Süreyya Tahsin Aygün, who lived between 1895-1981, is an important figure who left his mark on Turkish medical history. Aygün has done remarkable work in the field of bacteriology and contributed to stem cell research. Also known for his contributions to the Turkish army, Aygün worked at the Serum and Vaccine Institute during the War of Independence. His work throughout his veterinary career and his efforts during the War of Independence made significant contributions to the world of Turkish medicine and science. One of his most well-known achievements is preventing the entry of the Thalidomide medicine into Turkey.
