Left-handed transmission is obtained from a composite metamaterial consisting of periodic split ring resonator and wire arrays. Phase measurements reveal that the left-handed metamaterial has a negative phase velocity and negative refraction. The negative index metamaterial is capable of imaging subwavelength features with a resolution of λ/8.EnglishLeft-handed materialMetamaterialNegative refractionSplit ring resonatorSubwavelength imagingReview of experimental studies on microwave left-handed metamaterialsConference Paper10.1063/1.2821606
