It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 21-22).Bu çalışma kapsamında Hürriyet, Sözcü, Radikal, Evrensel gibi ülkemizin köklü gazetelerinde kariyerini sürdürmüş; Afganistan, Kosova, Filistin ve Irak'ta dış muhabir olarak çalışmış gazeteci Deniz Zeyrek'in hayatı ve gazetecilik kariyeri araştırılacaktır. Aynı zamanda kendisinin gazetecilik sektörüne yaptığı katkılar göz önünde bulundurularak, geçmişten günümüze Türk gazeteciliğinin ve basın özgürlüğünün değişimi incelenecektir. Türkiye'de gazetecilik anlayışında köklü değişiklikler yaşandığı bu dönemde, Deniz Zeyrek'in hayatı, tarafsız kişiliği ve gazetecilik alanındaki tecrübeleri ile geçmişten yana bu alanda gerçekleşen değişimlere ışık tutacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu projenin Deniz Zeyrek'in gazetecilik hayatı üstüne, geçmiş ve günümüz gazeteciliğinin farklarının ve nedenlerinin ortaya konulduğu bir araştırma olması hedeflenmektedir.Deniz Zeyrek's life and his career as a journalist, who has continued his career in respectable newspapers of Turkey such as Hürriyet, Sözcü, Radikal, Evrensel and has worked in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Palestine and Iraq as a foreign reporter, would be researched in this framework. Simultaneously changes in Turkish journalism past to present and alterations in freedom of the press will be examined by considering his contributions to the world of journalism. Deniz Zeyrek's life, his neutral stance and his experiences in journalism are thought to be tools for revealing the drastic changes in the manners of Turkish journalism in modern times.
