It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 14-15).Türkiye, ceviz üretiminde dünyanın önde gelen ülkelerinden biridir. Bunun nedenlerinden bazıları ülkemizin ceviz üretimi için uygun olan coğrafi konumu ve iklimi olmakla beraber özellikle 1980’li yılların sonunda devletin ceviz üretimi için vermiş olduğu teşviklerin de faydası olmuştur. Bu araştırmada Kırşehir ili, Kaman ilçesinde bu yıllarda yeniden başlayan ceviz üretimini konu alarak, bu sürece önayak olmuş dönemin Belediye Başkanı Hacı Yusuf Canpolat, kendisinin Ziraat Mühendisi Lokman Avşar ile birlikte çalışması için görevlendirdiği Arif Göçmen, ilçede ilk bahçe kuranlardan İbrahim Altın, yine o döneme tanıklık etmiş olan fidan yetiştiricisi Deniz İkizoğlu ve konu ile ilgili ilçede yerleşik kişilerle röportajlar yapılmıştır. Bu röportajlarla birlikte, ilçedeki ceviz üretimi hakkında yazılmış makaleler ve tezler de incelenerek sürecin nasıl geliştiği ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu yıllarda yapılan yatırımlar ve elde edilen tecrübeler sayesinde Kaman cevizi ülkemizde ve dünyada isim yapmış bir ceviz cinsi olarak literatüre girmiştir.Turkey is one of the leading producers of shelled walnuts in the world. Although this is a result of its geographical location and suitable climate, the government incentives that began at the end of 1980’s were also considerably effective. This research paper investigates the redevelopment of the walnut production in Kaman district of Kırşehir by interviewing notable individuals. Some of these individuals are Hacı Yusuf Canpolat who was the mayor of the district during that time, Arif Göçmen who was assigned by the mayor to work with Lokman Avşar, Ibrahim Altın one of the initial walnut orchard investors and Deniz İkizoğlu who was one of the first cultivators in the region.
