It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Türk sanatçılar tarafından icrasının başlaması ise Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün başlattığı Türk müziğini muhasır medeniyetler seviyesine çıkartma çalışmaları ile cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarına denk gelmektedir. Bu araştırmada Türkiye’de caz müziğinin geçirdiği önemli dönemlerden birisi olan 1980-2000 yılları arasında gerçekleşen gelişmeler incelenecektir. Türk cazının gelişim serüveninin incelenmesi için makale ve araştırma yazılarından yararlanılmıştır. Asıl incelenmek istenen dönem içinse kariyerine bu zaman diliminde başlayan Kerem Görsev’le yapılan röportajdan, çeşitli video, gazete küpürleri, araştırma yazıları ve makalelerden faydalanılmıştır. Bu araştırma ile Türkiye’nin yakın zamanda tanıştığı bir müzik türü olan caz müziğinin gelişim sürecine ve özellikle bu süreç içerisinde önemli bir yere sahip olan 1980-2000 yıllarına ışık tutulması amaçlanmıştır.Jazz is a genre of music which is originated in 1880s in America. Turkish musicians started to perform jazz music during the first years of proclamation of the republic thanks to the reforms Mustafa Kemal Atatürk made in order to revolutionize the Turkish music. In this study, the advancements jazz music experienced from the years 1980 to 2000 is examined since this period is one of the most important periods for the development of jazz music in Turkey. Many different review essays and articles were utilized to investigate the development process of Turkish jazz. For the period that is the main focus of this study, the interview that was done with Kerem Görsev whose career started in late 1970s and many different videos, press clippings, research and articles were used.
