It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (page 18).Nihat Yörükoğlu eğitimini tıp alanında tamamlamış, ardından tarih alanına yönelmiş ve bu doğrultuda çeşitli çalışmalar yapmış bir Türk tarihçisidir. Doğduğu şehir olan Manisa hakkında çeşitli çalışmalar ve araştırmalar yapmış, Manisa ve Türk Tarihi için kültürel bir değer olan Hafsa Sultan ve Külliyesini incelemiştir. Bunun yanında yine Manisa ve Hafsa Sultan ile özleşmiş mesir macunu hakkında bir çalışma yapmış, terkibindeki baharatları ve maddeleri tek tek mercek altına almıştır. Tarihçi kimliğinin yanında mesleği olan tıp hekimliğine devam ettirmiş, ülkenin çeşitli hastanelerinde ve bir dönem yurt dışında görev almıştır. Ankara'da vefat eden Nihat Yörükoğlu'nun anısına vefatının ardından Manisa'da bir kütüphane yaptırılmış ve kendi evindeki kitaplar gelecek nesillere miras edilmek amacıyla ailesi tarafından bağışlanmıştır.Nihat Yörükoğlu is a Turkish historian who completed his education in the field of medicine, then turned to the field of history and made various studies in this cause. He made various studies and researches about his birth city Manisa and examined Hafsa Sultan and her palace which is a cultural value for both Manisa and Turkish History. In addition to this, he made a study about mesir paste, which was also associated with Manisa and Hafsa Sultan, and he examined the spices and ingredients in the composition one by one. Besides his historian identity, he continued his profession as a medical doctor and worked in various hospitals in the country and abroad for a period.
