It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Ve 19. Yüzyıllar arasında Batı Avrupa’dan göç eden Levanten aileleri yaşamaktadır. Bu aileler Osmanlı ve Batı kültürlerini bir araya getirerek İzmir’de Bornova ve Buca’da birçok köşk inşa etmişlerdir. Levanten Köşkleri olarak bilinen bu yapılar inşa eden ailelerin kültürlerini, estetik anlayışlarını ve mimarilerini yansıtmaktadır. Doğu ve Batı mimari anlayışını bir araya getiren bu köşkler geçmişten günümüze farklı amaçlar için kullanılmıştır. İlk inşa edildikleri zamanlar ailelerin yaşam yeri olarak kullanılmıştır, Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde ise Mustafa Kemal gibi önemli birçok devlet adamını ağırlayarak önemli kararların alınmasına ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Günümüzde ise yapılan restorasyon çalışmaları ile Levanten köşkleri; müze, restoran, sanat sergileri ve kültür evleri gibi çeşitli şekillerde kullanılmaktadır.There are Levantine families who migrated from Western Europe between 18th and 19th centuries lived in Ottoman Empire. These families brought together Ottoman culture and Western culture and built many mansions in Bornova and Buca in İzmir. These buildings, known as Levanten Mansions and they reflect the culture, aesthetic understanding and architecture of the families who built them. These mansions which bring together Eastern and Western architectural concepts, have been used for different purposes from past to present. When it was first built, it was used as a living place for families, and during the Republican Period, while hosting many important statesmen such as Mustafa Kemal it also they were like centers where important decisions were made.
