It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Kıbrıslı Türklerin yaşamını etkileyen bu süreç, Türkiye’yi de yakından ilgilendirdi. 20 Temmuz 1974 tarihinde Türkiye’nin birçok ilinden adaya askerî birlik gönderildi. Kayseri Hava İndirme Tugayı da bunlardan yalnızca biriydi. Bu birlikte bir astsubay olan Çetin Bayhan, iki harekâtta da bulundu. Bayhan, harekât boyunca lojistik eksiklikleri ve dost ateşi gibi trajik durumlara tanık oldu. Başarıyla sonuçlanan harekât sonrasında ise sivil hayatına devam etti. Bu araştırma makalesinde Çetin Bayhan ile yapılan röportaj ile kendisinin hayatı, harekâta dahil olma süreci, harekât boyunca yaşadıkları ve Türkiye’ye dönüş süreci ele alındı. Ayrıca Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı öncesinde, sırasında ve sonrasında ve bu süreçte Türkiye’nin ve medyanın tutumu incelendi. Harekât ile ilgili genel bilgiler edinmek için harekâtı incelemek üzere yazılan kitaplara, dönemin gazetelerine ve makalelere başvuruldu.The Cyprus Peace Operation, which was organized for the Turkish Cypriot people to regain their freedom after years of oppression by the Greeks, is an important event in the history of Turkey. This process, which profoundly affected the lives of Turkish Cypriots, also closely concerned Turkey. On 20 July 1974, military units from various provinces of Turkey were sent to the island. Kayseri Airborne Brigade was only one of them. Çetin Bayhan, a non-commissioned officer in this brigade, participated in both operation phases. Bayhan witnessed tragic situations during the operation, such as logistical difficulties and friendly fire incidents. After the successful conclusion of the operation, he resumed his civilian life. This research paper examines Çetin Bayhan's life, his participation in the operation, his experiences during the operation, and his return to civilian life through an interview with him. It also analyses the attitudes of Turkey and the media before, during, and after the Cyprus Peace Operation.
