It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 17-18).Bu makalede 1975’te TED Ankara Koleji’nden mezun olduktan sonra lisans eğitimini ODTÜ’ de tamamlamış, yüksek lisans ve doktorasını Amerika’ da yapmış ve şu an da aktif bir şekilde Bilkent Üniversitesi’nin akademik kadrosunda yer alan Ülkü Gürler’in eğitim hayatından başlayarak günümüze kadar akademik camiaya yaptığı katkılar araştırılmıştır. Bilkent Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi’ndeki ilk kadın akademisyen olan Ülkü Gürler’in bir kadın olarak mühendislik fakültesinde kadınların azınlıkta olmasıyla ilgili görüşleri, bu konudaki tecrübeleri ve akademisyenlik yolunda ilerlemeyi neden seçtiği ve dekanlığa yükselişi incelenmiştir.In this article, the contributions of Ülkü Gürler to the academic literature have been investigated. Gürler graduated from TED Ankara College in 1975, completed her undergraduate education at METU, her master's and doctorate in the United States and is now on the academic staff of Bilkent University.
